A Tradition of Excellence
Maiko Matcha Cafe was born from a deep love for authentic Japanese tea culture. We are dedicated to bringing the finest matcha from Uji, Kyoto — the birthplace of Japanese green tea — directly to the streets of New York City.
Our matcha is sourced exclusively from the Harima Garden, a storied tea estate that has been cultivating premium tea leaves since 1858. For over 160 years, the Harima family has perfected the art of shade-growing, hand-picking, and stone-grinding tencha leaves into the most exquisite matcha powder.
Every cup we serve carries with it this remarkable heritage. From the careful cultivation of tea plants under traditional shade structures to the meticulous stone-milling process that preserves the delicate flavor compounds, we honor each step of the centuries-old tradition.
“Matcha is not merely a drink — it is a philosophy. It teaches us to be present, to appreciate simplicity, and to find beauty in every carefully prepared bowl. This is the spirit we bring to New York.”
